FLAG ON THE TYNE

The Newcastle Blackhawks were born back in the mists of time, when dinosaurs roamed the Earth.

Then known as the Newcastle Flare (for reasons which absolutely do not hold up to any engineering scrutiny), we were one of the teams that emerged as part of a new wave of popularity for flag football in the UK.

Within years, we were a fixture in an expanded league featuring teams from England, Scotland and Wales. The distinctive purple-and-black have been seen in tournaments from Glasgow to Coventry and so many places in between.

We’re currently taking part in the NFFL’s Div 1 North competition, but with an expanded squad full of promising and game-changing talent, we’re setting our sights on a return to the top-flight this season.

The Newcastle Blackhawks welcome adult players of all ages and genders, and we offer training and development games for those wanting to find their feet in an exciting and fast-growing sport.
