Hawks Improve to 6-0 in Second CFL Outing

The Blackhawks returned from a day trip to Bradford with another three wins and an unblemished CFL record for the year.

Newcastle triumphed over the Centurions, Locomotives, and the Catalyst squad, extending their unbeaten record to 6-0.

The Blackhawks started fast and never looked back, pitching a shutout on D and scoring at nearly every opportunity.

Adam Newton (x2) , Jack Mulholland and Ben Godbehere scored the TD passes from QB James Newton, whilst Liam Messenger returned an interception to the house for the cherry on the cake.

Despite the Blackhawks scoring on their opening possession, they quickly found ourselves 7-6 down to the Locomotives.

Fortunately, the O continued to rack up the points, the D stepped up, and Newcastle ran out comfortable winners in the end. Jack Mulholland (x4), Martin Jolley and Adam Newton popped up with touchdown catches from QB James Newton, whilst Ian Sutherland, Taylor Walton and Chris Stanworth all had interceptions to help seal the victory.

The final game of the day saw the Blackhawks come up against some familiar opponents wearing the uniforms of Catalyst Flag.

A true old fashioned back and forth affair seemed to be heading to the dreaded outcome of a tied ballgame until a last minute pick six from Jack Mulholland, showing incredible body control to tiptoe down the sidelines and win the game for the Blackhawks.

Taylor Walton (x2) and Jack Mulholland came up with the TD receptions from James Newton, and Jack Mulholland bagged a memorable pick six on D.

 

Overall MVP on the day was Jack Mulholland, with Adam Newton grabbing the O MVP award, and Chris Stanworth being named D MVP.
